Fids

Oh boy, I am still trying to learn how to play the violin! A couple of years ago, I switched to fiddle – same instrument, different style. I’ve been going for lessons every week with Michael, who is a really great teacher and musician. The school has a recital twice a year, and it’s very warm, inviting, friendly – just a great way for people to show where they are in their journey. They have lots of students learning many different instruments, so you always get to see a broad range of ability and talent.

Despite it being an amazing and friendly atmosphere, it is VERY stressful for me! As a singer, it’s frustrating to not be able to produce the same sound on the fiddle. But I played in their spring recital and it was… okay… I guess…?? Still very nerve-wracking and humbling, but I guess that’s part of the process. It still gives me some joy, so I will continue to learn!
