New Sewing Machine

Happy September! This is always a crazy month for me, because when you work at a large university like I do, the back-to-school routine is quite nutty. So I decided to treat myself to a new sewing machine.

Isn’t she a beauty? I haven’t named her yet. But I bought her at the Pfaff store on Granville Street, where the sales lady was SO nice, informative, and helpful. The business is family owned and you can tell that they have a lot of pride in the things they sell in their shop. It comes with a 2-year warranty, but she told me to come in any time I need help.

I have made up a few more eye pillows, but it takes a long time to sew them by hand. My first little project is a larger heating bag for my Mom, who hurt her knee. She is to alternate hot and cold on her knee, so I made her up this bag, with some fabric I had laying around. I am still deciding if I want to fill it with flax seed or buckwheat. But it was very quick and easy to do.

So it might be a bit crowded with another craft on the go, but who cares, I love my new little machine!
